Marty Nelson

Marty Nelson is currently serving his third year as a band director at Arbor Creek.  Prior to teaching in Lewisville, Mr. Nelson's top band at Coppell Middle School East earned a U.I.L. Sweepstakes trophy every year since it opened in 1993, and was a T.M.E.A State Honor Band Finalist in 2000.  He was recently named Secondary Teacher of the Year for the Coppell I.S.D.  Before coming to Coppell, Mr. Nelson taught for seven years at Shacklleford J.H. in Arlington, Texas,  where the Honor Band came in third place in the T.M.E.A. Honor Band competition.  Mr. Nelson has also taught in the Houston area for the Spring Branch and Aldine school districts.  His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators' Association and the Texas Music Adjudicators' Association.  He considers his most important affiliations be his wife Charlene, and twelve year old son, Martin.

 

 

Kim Cooley- (Bachelor of Music, West Texas A&M and Master of Music, West Texas A&M)

Mrs. Cooley is in her sixth year as assistant director of bands at ACMS.  Her responsibilities include directing the Symphonic Band, assisting the Concert and Honors Band and teaching beginning brass and woodwind classes. The Symphonic Band under Mrs. Cooley has been awarded numerous 1st divisions and Sweepstakes trophies.   The 05-06  and 06-07 Symphonic Bands were awarded "Best In Class" at the Springfest Music Festival.  Prior to her appointment she was a graduate assistant and a conductor of the University Wind Ensemble at West Texas A&M under Dr. Gary Garner.  Her professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators' Association and Texas Bandmasters Association.

 

 

  Scott Baldwin

Mr. Baldwin came to the L.I.S.D. in the fall of 2002 and is the percussion coordinator for the Hebron cluster (Arbor Creek MS, Creek Valley MS, and Hebron HS).  A graduate of the University of Louisville, Mr. Baldwin also holds two masters degrees in music education and percussion performance from the University of Florida.  Under his direction, the Hebron High School Drumline has quickly become one of the most respected ensembles in the North Texas area.
